Important Fabric Information

Please be sure to read the following information before making a purchase or getting in touch, as many potential questions can be answered below...

Important information about soft furnishing fabrics
Susie Hetherington fabrics are suitable for curtains, blinds and soft furnishings. They can also be used for light upholstery but this should be limited to occasional use furniture, rather than a sofa or chair that will get lots of use, as digitally printed fabric may wear/rub if used on such an item.

Our soft furnishing fabric is not suitable for machine washing. As such we would always recommend that you opt for dry cleaning. Machine washing the fabric will result in loss of quality/colour.

Printing to order
All soft furnishing fabrics shown on this website are printed to order; we do not hold large quantities in stock. Please allow 12-14 working days to receive your order. In the rare event that there is likely to be a further delay due to a busy period you will be informed as soon as possible of this, after purchase.

The minimum you can order of any fabric is 1 metre.

Stock is held for sampling purposes, but in the case of a rush on a particular design, please understand that we may need to request a print run if we have run out. In most cases, samples will be with you in within 5 working days.

Linen variations & colours
We recommend that you request a sample of soft furnishing fabric before making a purchase, in order to see the colour off screen. Whilst the website reflects the fabric as accurately as possible, colours vary on every computer monitor and we would prefer you to be sure of what you are purchasing. As fabrics are printed to order, we are unable to cancel/refund or exchange an order when the fabric is printed.

We ask for your understanding that printing on a natural linen union can mean that slight colour and weave variations are possible between samples and final orders of fabric, if the base cloth batch has been swapped in the interim. These differences will be slight but cannot be avoided when using a cloth of natural fibres, which will, by their nature, vary from roll to roll. If this is a big concern to you, for example, if you are making cushions to match previously made curtains in the same design, we can sometimes adjust colours to a formerly printed batch to try and get a match.

Bespoke Colourways
Bespoke colourways may be a possibility on orders over 5 metres, to match with a paint scheme, perhaps. This is best achieved with single coloured designs, and will involve a sampling fee. Please get in touch if this may be of interest.

Returns
We are sure that you will be really pleased with your fabric, but in the event that you are not, please get in touch and let me know of the problem. Unfortunately we are unable to offer returns or refund on our fabric, because it is all printed to order. We can only offer returns on faulty fabric.

Please inspect your fabric order as soon as it arrives, as a full length (before cutting), and before passing it on to a third party (such as a curtain maker). If a fault is found later or after the fabric is cut, we will be unable to make an exchange. If the fabric is faulty please contact us immediately and we will discuss an exchange. We may need to inspect the fabric to determine the problem and how to proceed.

Flame Retardancy
We do not treat our fabric to make it flame retardant. However, upholsterers should be able to advise of flame retardant barrier cloths or interlinings that are available if it is needed, or fabric can be sent to specialist firms to be treated for flame retardancy.
